How Can I Visit Foroglio?
You can easily get to the town of Foroglio by car, bike, or public transport from places like Lugano, Locarno, or Bellinzona.
By Car
If you want to be flexible with your stay and see the Bavona Valley along the way, the best way to get there is by car. It’s pretty cool that you can stop and see other interesting sights as you go along the valley to Foroglio.
There is paid parking close to the town, but it can get crowded, so keep that in mind if you plan to go on a weekend during peak tourist season.
It takes forty minutes to drive from Locarno to Foroglio.
By Bus
Don’t worry if you don’t have a car—you can also get to the Foroglio Switzerland by bus!
You can take bus 315 from Locarno to Cavergno and then bus 333 to Foroglio. It will take about an hour and ten minutes.
Before you take the bus to go somewhere, please make sure you know when you need to get back home. The bus comes less often during the off season, and you don’t want to miss the last one!
By Bike
For those who like to take risks, you can choose to ride a bike here! Along the Vallemaggia District, you can go off-road on some routes. If not, you can stay on the road and enjoy the trip just as much.
When is the best time to go to Foroglio?
We believe that the best times to visit Forolio are in the summer or the autumn. It’s fun to cool off in the waterfall and river when it’s hot outside and the sun is shining. In autumn, on the other hand, the village is almost empty, with few tourists and the most beautiful autumn colors to walk in.
In Foroglio, there is also a nice black cat. Keep an eye out if you like cats!
Village of Foroglio
In Ticino, Switzerland, we think the Foroglio Village is one of the cutest places to visit. It is in the Vallemaggia District, at the very end of the Bavona Valley. The trip is well worth it by car, bike, or public transit.
It mostly has old stone houses surrounded by plants. There are also a few small shops, a local museum, and one or two restaurants where you can get something to eat. We found the people to be very nice, and the grotto is a great place to cool off when it’s open.
You should definitely take a walk down the main cobblestone street and check out some of the side paths. Many of the houses have beautiful flowers all year long, which makes the village very pretty and a popular place for photographers to come.
La Froda: Where to Eat in the Village
To get something to eat after your trip, go to La Froda, the restaurant in Foroglio Switzerland. Here you can get food and drinks from Ticino, like polenta and fizzy gazzosa lemonades. This is a great place to stop and take a break.
Remember that this cave is only open during the right season. In late autumn and winter, it will be closed.
Foroglio Waterfall, also known as Cascata Di Foroglio
A waterfall that is 110 meters high is just a short 10-minute walk from the village of Foroglio. This is what makes the village unique. You can visit this all year, and it’s also one of the best things to see in Ticino.
Everyone in the area goes there on hot summer days because it’s a local favourite. On the weekends, it can get very crowded. We suggest that you go during the week for a more peaceful but still fun time.
Foroglio Hotel in Switzerland
You can spend the night at Casa Serafina if you want to stay in the village of Foroglio for a longer time. Even though it’s not a hotel, this is a great place to stay the night or longer in Foroglio village. With two beds and one bathroom, this beautiful stone house can fit four people. It’s a total of 70m² and is the best place to spend the night because it’s close to the waterfall and has a fireplace for relaxing. It has a view of the Foroglio waterfall, where you can eat dinner and take it easy. Because this village is so small, there is only enough power to charge your phones.
